Pernell NMN Maddox, 18, who was known to police, and a 14-year-old minor, both of Lexington Park, are facing multiple charges after being busted by members of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID).
Deputies from the sheriff’s office reported hearing shots fired shortly before 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18 in the area of Hancock Road in Lexington Park, which was confirmed by witnesses.
During the investigation, multiple shell casings were found in the roadway and a residence on Midway Drive was struck by a bullet, but no injuries were reported.
The investigation led detectives to identify the two teens as suspects, and they were arrested without incident, the sheriff’s office announced on Thursday, Jan. 26.
Detectives from the CID executed multiple warrants, leading to the seizure of an MK-11 assault pistol and loaded Taurus G2C semi-automatic handgun, both of which are believed to have been used in a shooting incident on Jan. 18.
For the shooting incident, Maddox was charged with:
- Handgun in a vehicle;
- Loaded handgun in a vehicle;
- Handgun on a person;
- Loaded handgun on a person;
- Reckless endangerment;
- Possession of a firearm by a minor.
He was also served on an outstanding warrant for his arrest stemming from an unrelated incident. He was additionally charged with:
- Armed robbery;
- Robbery;
- Second-degree assault;
- Theft of less than $100.
The 14-year-old was referred to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services for the illegal possession of guns during the incident.
